How does quality matter when choosing your uPVC window?

Quality uPVC windows in a Hyderabad home

Quality is a word every fabricator uses and almost none define. In this guide we want to be specific about what it actually means when you're choosing a uPVC window — and why most homeowners in India don't pay it enough attention until it's too late, usually two or three years after the install.

In the fenestration industry, quality shows up in two distinct dimensions: the quality of the product itself, and the quality of the service that surrounds it. Both matter enormously, and for very different reasons.

Product quality: the profile makes all the difference

At Mason, we've always paid closer attention to product quality than is typical — partly to set ourselves apart from the rest of the fabricators in a price-sensitive market. The Hyderabad market, like much of India, leads with price. We chose instead to build for the people who value quality on its own terms.

For everything we fabricate — whether sliding, casement, or fixed — quality revolves first around the outer frame, the profile. The Indian profile market broadly splits into two segments:

  • Premium segment — brands with German and Turkish heritage, backed by genuine warranties and quality control. These are the profiles engineered to hold their shape and seal for decades.
  • Economy segment — a large field of options at aggressive price points, often unbranded. They look identical in the showroom. They do not look identical three monsoons later.
The profile market divides clearly — premium German and Turkish brands versus economy options. The difference doesn't show up on day one. It shows up two to three years after installation.

At Mason, we're proud partners of Plastone, and we carry their two flagship variants — the P55 and T-Plus series — because they hold up to exactly the heat, humidity and UV that South Indian homes throw at a window.

Quality of service: the part everyone forgets

A courteous first conversation. A clear explanation of what you're actually buying. A measurement visit that happens on time, by someone who knows what they're doing. A timeline that's actually kept. None of these are luxuries — they're simply what a good experience looks like, and they're rarer than they should be.

This is central to everything we do. We genuinely enjoy the process — from the first phone call to the final installation to the review our team eagerly checks afterward. A window is not a transaction for us; it's something that stays in your home for thirty years.

That smile we put on a customer's face — for the service we provide in adorning their homes — is something we cannot attach a value to.

So when you compare quotes, look past the per-square-foot number. Ask what profile brand is in the frame. Ask who measures, who installs, and who answers the phone in year three when a roller needs adjusting. That's where quality actually lives.
